Orientation Information and Registration

The New Graduate Student Orientation is a university-wide program offered to all incoming graduate students. It will provide a useful overview of what you can expect at Texas A&M University – including information on policies, procedures, resources and services on campus and in the community.

The Office of Graduate Studies encourages all students to attend the on-campus Orientation, which provides you the opportunity to meet campus leaders, administrators, and fellow graduate students. The orientation includes continental breakfast, lunch, a Texas A&M t-shirt and many handouts and other materials to assist students in transitioning to graduate school at Texas A&M University.

 

  Information on Spring 2010 New Graduate Student Orientation

New Graduate Student Orientation will be Friday, January 15, for students starting their graduate program in Spring 2010. No on-site registration fee is necessary. The $50 orientation fee is charged to all new graduate students regardless of attendance and will be included in the semester's fee statement.

To attend the New Graduate Student Orientation you must be an admitted graduate student for the Spring 2010 semester.

All admitted graduate students -- domestic and international -- are encouraged to attend new graduate student orientation.

  Orientation Agenda

Check in will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Rudder Exhibit Hall on the first floor of Rudder Tower (401 Joe Routt Boulevard, College Station, Texas, 77844 http://campusmaps.tamu.edu/?mi=137&zoom=15&view=hybrid). The spring orientation program begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. inside Rudder Theatre.

 

  Bus and Parking Information

The University Center/Koldus Parking Garage (http://campusmaps.tamu.edu/?mi=164&zoom=14&view=hybrid) provides the closest parking to New Graduate Student Orientation events, take place in Rudder Theatre on the main campus. Rudder Theatre is located directly across from the Memorial Student Center next to the fountain. Students must pay to park in the University Center/Koldus Parking Garage.
 
Parking costs for the University Center/Koldus Parking Garage:
The maximum cost is $15.00 a day. The cost breakdown is: $2.00 the first hour, $4.00 for the second hour and $1.00 for each additional hour, not to exceed $15.00.

  Information from Department or Program

Some Departments and Programs have an orientation for their new graduate students. This is a separate orientation, coordinated by the Department or Program. For information on departmental or college orientations that provide details specific to a student's graduate program or major, check with your graduate advisor or other department staff.
