Dual Enrollment Graduate Student Special Support

This area addresses the specialized questions and needs of students dually enrolled at Texas A&M University and another institution of higher education, including branch campuses in Galveston and Doha, Qatar, specifically those related to registration, enrollment, funding and financial aid.

Graduate Council Support

The Graduate Council is composed of representatives from the graduate faculty at Texas A&M. The Council develops and maintains policies and procedures pertaining to graduate programs at the university. The Council’s function includes long-range planning, recommendation of new programs and courses, evaluation of existing programs and courses, and facilitation of university accreditation.

Graduate Student Awards

The Office of Graduate and Professional Studies offers the Research and Presentation Grant to reimburse certain expenses for graduate student research and travel.  Additionally, up to 15 graduate students to receive Distinguished Graduate Student Awards annually.  The students are nominated by their faculty advisors with strenuous eligibility requirements.

Graduate Student Professional Development

OGAPS seeks to connect graduate students to effective workshops, seminars and resources supporting all aspects of professional development. Occasional workshops are offered by OGAPS directly.

Interdisciplinary Degree Graduate Student Special Support

This area addresses the specialized questions and needs of students participating in TAMU’s interdisciplinary degree programs (IDPs).  Because these programs are not housed in the traditional department model, certain matters related to IDP graduate students are structured in unique ways.

Recruitment, Retention and Fellowships

The Office of Graduate and Professional Studies is responsible for recruiting, retaining and providing support for graduate students at Texas A&M University. The Graduate Recruitment and Retention area provides brochures and information to departments; encourages questions from prospective students; attends graduate fairs; provides fellowships for graduate students such as the Texas A&M University Graduate Merit Fellowship, the Diversity Fellowship, and the Dissertation Fellowship; and offers professional development workshops.

Thesis Office

The Thesis Office reviews each electronic thesis, dissertation and record of study (ETD) for uniformity, consistency and adherence to university guidelines for quality and provides a wide range of preparation support and coordinate release of the ETD for public access.
