Being funded through a fellowship such as the Ford Foundation has afforded me with more time to focus on my research and clinical responsibilities without having to worry about taking out additional loans. OGS will present multimedia workshops on Thursday, January 28, and Thursday, February 25, at 3:30 p.m. in the Whitley Room in the Evans Library (Room 1.106). At this workshop, we will explain the overall intent, appropriate themes, criteria and guidelines for video submissions. We will also show some examples of videos from previous competitions. We will then tell you about video equipment available for check out. We will demonstrate specific equipment and software. The deadline for this competition is April 5, 2010. But, if you want to create a top notch entry, then you should start working now. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), the nation's premier Hispanic educational and youth leadership development organization, is seeking applicants for its Graduate and Young Professional Fellowships due February 19.
Undergraduate students considering graduate school are encouraged to attend the fifth annual Lone Star Graduate Diversity Colloquium, March 26-27, at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas). The Lone Star Graduate Diversity Colloquium is a collective effort by all colleges and universities in Texas to encourage more underrepresented students and first generation college students, currently enrolled at Texas colleges and universities, to stay in Texas to complete their graduate education. The Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) will cover registration fees and transportation to UT Dallas. To register for the conference and for travel arrangements, students should email Megan Palsa at meganp@tamu.edu no later than Friday, February 26.

The Texas Center for the Advancement of Literacy and Learning (TCALL) announces the availability of $100,000 in Barbara Bush Fellowships for Texas A&M University doctoral students pursuing family literacy research. The application deadline is Friday, February 19.
